It’s Monday, which means it’s time for yet another new employee spotlight! Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to yet another amazing intern that has decided to join our team: please say hello to our new Software Developer, William Bergeron-Drouin.
I recently sat down with William to learn more about his background, role, hobbies and more. Here’s a snapshot of our conversation:
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
I first developed an interest in computers and coding back when I was a kid. I remember having fun with some basic HTML/CSS in elementary school. I obtained a diploma in Computer Science and math at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme, and am currently studying software engineering at École Polytechnique de Montréal.
What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
While completing my diploma, I launched my own website development business. I learned lot of entrepreneurial skills and was able to pay for living expenses and tuition.
What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?
I first learned about Devolutions when it was the main sponsor of the Hackatown competition at École Polytechnique. I was really impressed by their involvement in the IT community, and their support of young talent.
What would you say are your top three strengths at work?
First, I get along well with people and enjoy working in a team. Second, coding is my passion, which inspires me to try to find the best possible solution. Third, I’m capable of learning things on my own, which allows me to quickly discover the technology that fits a problem the best, instead of just sticking to what I already know.
What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools that you use?
Most of my work focuses on Angular web applications, and I’m developing in Typescript/HTML/CSS while using WebStorm (IDE).
What are your impressions about working here?
I started at Devolutions during a summer internship, and the workplace was even more enjoyable than I had hoped! Everyone is very friendly, and you can always count on someone to help you when you encounter a problem.
What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?
I'd say that my top priority is to deliver features that really add value to our products, while learning more about various technologies myself.
On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
I like many sports, including cycling and running. And of course, I’m interested in everything related to tech.
Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:
Please continue to share your feedback about our products! One of the amazing perks of being a software developer is that the features you develop can significantly enhance the experience of the user. Knowing about what those features are is essential, and I can tell you without a doubt that listening to our users’ feedback is a top priority at Devolutions!
