For many people, Monday is not their favorite day of the week. But around here, we love Mondays, because it’s an opportunity for us to introduce you to a great new team member. Please give a warm welcome to Jesse Galarneau, Software Developer!

I recently chatted with Jesse to learn more about his background, role, and what he likes to do when he’s not busy developing software. Here’s a look at our conversation:

Can you tell me a bit about your background?

I studied computer science at the CEGEP of Joliette, which is about 30 minutes northeast of Montreal. I was an intern at Devolutions, but that had to be canceled due to the pandemic. However, now that I have graduated, I’m thrilled to be part of the Devolutions team.

What would you say is your biggest achievement?

I would say that getting a job at Devolutions is my biggest achievement to date. I’m also proud to have graduated.

What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?

The company is very supportive of its employees, and there are lots of benefits and perks. The environment is also great, and that is important to be happy at work and in life.

What would you say are your top three strengths at work?

First, I’m a quick worker. Second, I persevere and will stay focused on a task until it is solved. Third, I’m a fast learner and always eager to acquire new knowledge and skills.

What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools you use?

Together with my team, I am working on Remote Desktop Manager for Mac, and I spend my time integrating new features and taking care of fixes. I use Visual Studio a lot, and of course my best friend Google.

What is your impression of working here?

My team is super friendly and always willing to help. Because of the pandemic, we are still social distancing, and so I haven’t yet experienced some of the more social aspects that the company is well-known for. But I’m sure once things start getting back to normal, this will be a very enjoyable and interesting part of the work experience.

What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?

I want to demonstrate to my team that I am reliable, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and valuable. I also want to develop my skills, and perhaps one day be the leader of my own team.

On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?

My number one hobby is playing video games. I also really like going hiking, as well as indoor and outdoor climbing.

Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:

I will work hard and do my best to give you the very best RDM Mac experience that you can imagine!
